Kulanu Torah Academy, KTA, was established in 2002 to provide children with special needs an opportunity to receive quality educational services within the Yeshiva environment from Middle School through High School. We provide a unique Yeshiva environment where students with cognitive, behavioral, emotional and social challenges are provided a combination of whole class, small group and individualized instruction that is designed to maximize their abilities. We provide students an opportunity to learn in an environment that encourages integration and inclusion with their typical peers throughout the school day. While our academic and vocational curriculums align with New York State standards, we stress real world application throughout our instructional day. Our high school program provides a structure which offers a school to work component, differentiated instruction, and service learning/experiential learning in community based settings.

Gesher Program
The Gesher Program is a three-year program initiative for 18-21 year old students with special needs. Our program provides a bridge from school to the world of work and was developed to address the staggering unemployment of young people with disabilities by helping them enter the work force before they exit school.  This program offers each student a highly individualized instructional design which emphasizes the development of vocational skills, on-site job training and support, functional academics and independent life skills, as well as comprehensive transition planning.  While job development, work experiences, job coaching and paid employment support will comprise a major component of this program, support will also be available to locate recreation/leisure opportunities, develop independent living skills, connect to community resources, and develop social/interpersonal skills. Students enrolled in the program will begin their studies abroad in Israel.  This 12 week experience will provide students with an opportunity to live and work on a kibbutz where they will develop a strong connection to their history and culture.
