Keren Eliana PARC (Parent Advocacy and Resource Center) Fair Addresses Issues of Empowerment
On Sunday, May 3rd over eighty people, seeking information for their children with special needs attended the first Keren Eliana PARC (Parent Advocacy and Resource Center) Fair. PARC, a division of Kulanu, held the fair at HAFTR Elementary School where over 20 vendors, from the local area provided valuable information to attendees. The keynote speaker, Maggie Hoffman of Project DOCC, in the photo above, stirred the crowd as she addressed issues of empowerment by instructing parents on how to tell their story so they get their children’s needs met. PARC planned this resource to fair as a kick off towards establishing a “one stop shop” central information ,referral and advocacy site for agencies and consumers. People who attended were amazed at the wealth and diversity of what is in the immediate area. For information about or services please contact Karen Eliana’s PARC coordinator, Mark Hoffacher at 516-569-3083, Mhoffacker@kulanukids.org
